Rev. Gary W. Kidwell
Rev. Gary W. Kidwell is president of the Christian Church Foundation, first joining the staff in January 1998.
The Christian Church Foundation helps individuals accomplish what they want to do in perpetually supporting the work of their Disciples congregations or other church-related ministries. The Foundation also is devoted to helping Disciples congregations and entities receive bequests and planned gifts and become good stewards of the gifts they have received.
Gary is a graduate of Lexington Theological Seminary, Lexington, KY,. and Campbellsville College, Campbellsville, KY. He holds a certificate in nonprofit management from the Harvard Business School. He is a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC), an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP), and a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE).
Prior to joining the Foundation, Gary since 1991 had worked with the Board of Church Extension, serving as a general consultant and vice president of field services. Gary in 1985 launched the Twin Pines Christian Church in Lexington as a new church pastor/developer. He was pastor of Walton Christian Church, Walton, KY, from 1980 to 1985.
He also is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and is a trustee at Lexington Theological Seminary, serving as board chair since 2008. In 2006, he received the “Somos Uno” award for Distinguished General Church Executive during the 13th National Hispanic and Bilingual Assembly.
He and his wife, Judy, have two adult children living in Dallas, TX, and belong to Geist Christian Church in Indianapolis, IN.
